Booking your first call with a security consultant can feel intimidating — especially if you're worried you'll be judged for what you haven't done yet. Let's take the mystery out of it. A good first consultation is a conversation, not an exam. Here's exactly how ours go.

Before the call: what to prepare

You don't need to prepare much — that's kind of the point. But a few minutes of thought helps us make the most of your 30 minutes:

  • What's prompting this? A close call, a client questionnaire, a new regulation, or just a nagging feeling you're overdue.
  • A rough picture of your setup. Roughly how many employees, what your core systems are (cloud, on-prem, key SaaS apps), and whether you have any IT support today.
  • Your biggest worry. Even if it's vague. "I don't know what I don't know" is a completely valid starting point.
You will never be judged for the state of your security. Every business we've helped started somewhere — the fact that you're asking already puts you ahead.

During the call: what actually happens

A typical first consultation runs about 30 minutes and moves through four phases:

1. Understanding your business (≈10 min)

We ask about what you do, what data you handle, who your customers are, and what would hurt most if it went wrong. Security only makes sense in the context of your business, so we start there — not with technology.

2. A quick posture snapshot (≈10 min)

We walk through the fundamentals — identity and access, backups, endpoint protection, email security, and how you'd handle an incident today. This isn't a deep audit; it's a fast read on where you stand.

3. Your top priorities (≈8 min)

We tell you, plainly, the two or three things that would most reduce your risk right now — and just as importantly, what you can safely not worry about yet.

4. Next steps (≈2 min)

If it makes sense to work together, we'll outline what that could look like. If it doesn't, we'll tell you that too — you'll still leave with a clear, actionable list.

After the call

You'll walk away with at least three concrete recommendations you can act on immediately, whether or not you decide to engage us further. No pressure, no obligation — that's a promise, not a marketing line.

Common questions we hear

"Is it really free?" Yes. The first consultation is genuinely free and no-obligation. We'd rather earn your trust than pressure you into a contract.

"What if we're a total mess?" Then you're exactly who we built this for. The messier the starting point, the more value a clear roadmap provides.

"Do we need to buy anything first?" No. Often our first recommendations are about configuring what you already have — not spending more.

The bottom line

A first consultation is low-risk and high-value by design. Come as you are, bring your questions, and leave with a plan. That's it.
